They are floor tiles made of cement with a coloured inlaid pattern. They are still manufactured by hand as they were more than a hundred years ago when they were invented. – That is at least in the company that I was able to visit and where all the fotos are from. Many thanks to Daniel Bailo and the crew of Mosáico Tiles, who even helped me to make my own tiles.
Was sind Zementfliesen und wie werden sie hergestellt?
Es sind Fußbodenplatten aus Zement mit einem mehrfarbigen eingelegten Muster. Sie werden immer noch von Hand produziert, so wie vor über 100 Jahren, als sie erfunden wurden. Dies gilt zumindest für die Firma, die ich besuchen durfte und wo alle Fotos aufgenommen wurden. Vielen Dank an Daniel Bailo und die Mitarbeiter von Mosáico Fliesen, die mir sogar halfen, selbst Fliesen herzustellen.
¿Que son los mosaicos hidráulicos y como se hacen?
Son baldosas de suelo con un diseño colorido incrustado. Todavía se los fabrican a mano, como hace más de cien años, cuando se inventó. Al menos esta se refiere a la empresa que yo tenía la oportunidad de visitar y donde se han hecho todas las fotos. ¡Muchas gracias a Daniel Bailo y el equipo de Mosáico Fliesen, quien me ayudaban a hacer mis propias baldosas.

Susanne, hay tantos oficios que se van a perder!!!!. Parte de nuestra cultura que ignoramos y despreciamos, cuando es el mayor tesoro que tenemos. Gracias a sensibilidades como la tuya aún hay esperanza de que se puedan transmitir a nuestros descendientes.

Hi Susanne, I just realized that the dragonfly tile that you made is from my own design for it ! I drew that for Daniel Bailo as a proposed tile for our popular Patchwork Tile....small world we have here :o)

Hi Susanne, im looking to get some classes on how to do cement tiles. Any classes that you recommend?
ReplyDeleteHi Juan Carlos, sorry I don't know of any classes to make cement tiles - and I don't think it's something you can do at home. Daniel Bailo of Mosaico Tiles was very helpful and I am sure you could see how tiles are made and order them from there.
